Controversial social media influencer and self-acclaimed fashion critic, Charlie Dior has issued a stern warning to those tagging him under posts regarding the approval of the anti-gay bill by parliament.
A few days ago, Parliament approved 3 to 5 years custodial sentence for promotion of LGBTQ+ Ghana’s Parliament has approved a custodial sentence of a minimum of three (3) years and a maximum of five (5) years for the willful promotion, sponsorship, or support of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer+ (LGBTQ+) activities.
This includes imposing a six-month custodial sentence or less on individuals who aid, facilitate, encourage, or promote LGBTQ activities.
The amendment was proposed by co-sponsor of the bill Sam George who believes that strict punishment is necessary to ensure compliance with the law once passed.
Under the amended bill, which is currently at the consideration stage, those found guilty of promoting LGBTQ activities will face a minimum sentence of three months and a maximum of six months, or a fine of GH₵600 minimum to GH₵1200.
Reacting to this, Charlie Dior stated that the bill is not going to affect only those who part of the alphabet group but everyone else.
