Ghanaian Member of Parliament and Minister, Hawa Koomson, has sparked online outrage after downplaying the hardships facing Ghanaians.
According to her, rent is more expensive in Canada than it is in Ghana hence Ghanaians should stop complaining so much and appreciate what they have.
Speaking on Onua FM/TV with Nana Yaa Brefo, the Awutu Senya East MP said she travelled to Canada last year where she learned a single room building is being rented out at $2,000 Canadian dollars.
She said someone could be working in Canada and earning CAD $3,000 and yet being forced to rent such a place, leaving them only $1,000 for the rest of the month.
Koomsom made this point to somehow prove that Canadians are suffering and Ghanaians have it easy.
Of course, social media users pointed out how stupid her comparison is, starting from the fact that Canadians earn far more than Ghanaians on average.
There is also the inconvenient fact that renting in Ghana is done on two year timelines and now one month timelines.
This is arguably the stupidest thing a Minister has said this year and social media truly let Hawa Koomson have it.
Check out her claim below…
Ghanaian Politician and educationist, Hawa Koomson, states that anyone who thinks rent in Ghana is expensive should go to Canada and see.
